Vintage Port
From a spectacular harvest, this 1963 vintage Port wine from Taylor's shows a pale garnet colour with red brilliant highlights. At first the spirit is rather overpowering. Then dark chocolate starts appearing, followed by herbal, rock rose , licorice, cigar box, leathery quality really comes through in the mouth and a slightly medicinal character. The finish is long and lingering.
This house must certainly be the Latour of Portugal. Their ports are remarkably backward yet still impressive when young. Of all the vintage ports, those of Taylor need the longest time to mature and even when fully mature seem to have an inner strength and firmness that keep them going for decades.

Reviews:
“…for me this is now one of the best and most elegant of all the ‘63s. I have made a total of sixteen notes since the early 1980s when it emerged, fully fledged and totally delicious”.

"Extremely impressive, with beautifully balanced, harmonious sweet fruit on the palate. Medium ruby-red, ripe cherry and cassis aromas, medium-bodied, with rich, velvety fruit flavors, full, soft tannins and a powerful finish".

Ryst Dupeyron
The 1966 Dupeyron Armagnac is the expression of a single year and has a unique character associated with the year and the cask in which it has been stored. These vintages are bottled at the alcohol level in which they naturally come out of the cask. There is a wonderful contrast between the sweet and sour flavours of wood, amplified by the strong alcoholic degree. Rich palate feeling the alcohol and the concentration of dry plums, spicy with persistent flavour of rancio and of spices, but round, soft and long in the finish. The tannins are very present, but full-bodied and round.
